Highly experienced in acute diagnostic pathology, the laboratories now serve The Harley Street Clinic, The Wellington Hospital, The Portland Hospital for Women and Children, The Princess Grace Hospital, London Bridge Hospital and The Lister Hospital. The laboratories also serve many other clinics, health centres, pharmaceutical companies, general practitioners and a variety of commercial concerns.
The laboratory is directed by the Chief Operating Officer and medically directed by a full-time Consultant Haematologist.
HCA Laboratories provide a fully comprehensive service in all disciplines of pathology, 24 hours a day throughout the year. The laboratories are staffed by over 30 qualified and state-registered biomedical scientists and 12 consultant pathologists. Services include:
Histopathology and Cytology services are overseen by a team of teaching hospital consultants with a wide range of individual and complementary areas of special interest and expertise. All reports are available within 24 to 36 hours of receipt.
Outpatient services rooms are sited at 111 Harley Street. Here we offer phlebotomy for blood samples.
Analytical quality
Analytical quality is rigorously and continuously monitored via internal, national and international quality assurance schemes. All other parameters that comprise a quality service - such as speed of test around - are audited by specific quality assurance staff. The demands of the Clinical Pathology Accreditation process adds assurance that all documentation and protocols are consistent, detailed and regularly updated.
Pathology reports are produced in formats specifically designed for our individual customers. Depending on requirements, reports may be rapidly delivered by our own couriers or sent along secure computer lines to the hospital's or consultant's own computer. Our dedicated couriers are also responsible for the transfer of samples from the hospitals and consultants to the laboratory.
The main laboratory is situated at 43a Wimpole Street, London, W1M 7AF with the entrance in Weymouth Street. A smaller laboratory serves the acute demands of The Wellington Hospital which also houses the histology and cytology laboratories.
